'Midsommarfirande'

Esta celebración es cuando ocurre el Solsticio de Verano, que es el día más largo del año. Es un día muy importante para Suecia y normalmente se reúnen muchas familias o amigos.

Dentro de lo más tradicional existe el baile alrededor del poste, el cual es conocido como 'midsommarstång'. Van principalmente las familias con niños pequeños a bailar canciones tradicionales suecas, algunos se visten con sus trajes típicos pero es más popular que las niñas traigan coronas de flores. El poste en forma de cruz es cubierto por flores y tiene dos aros colgando. También se suele decir que es un baile a la fertilidad.

La comida típica para este día son papas frescas, crema ácida, arenque (Sill) y fresas. Aunque actualmente también es muy típico que se haga una carne asada. Algo que no puede faltar es la bebida y se acostumbra tomar shots de una bebida alcohólica fuerte y se llaman 'Snaps', por lo general se canta antes de tomar cada shot.

Este año nosotros la pasamos aquí en nuestra casa pero primero nos dimos una vuelta a una iglesia donde se iba a poner un poste y luego nos venimos a comer a nuestra casa un salmón acompañado con papas frescas y bañado en salsa holandesa. Y para rematar le copié a Peter, 'Jordgubbstårta', un pastel que tiene crema de vainilla, mermelada de fresa y fresas frescas. Todo nos quedó muy rico realmente y la pasamos muy bien.

This celebration takes place in the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. Is a very important day in Sweden and normally the family get together or friends.

Among the most traditional things exist the dance around the pole, called 'midsommarstång'. They go mainly families with children to dance traditional swedish songs, some are dress with the typical swedish clothes but is more common that the girls have a crown make of flowers. The pole is a cross, it's cover with flowers and has two rings hanging. They also used to say that is dance for the fertility.

The typical food for this day are fresh potatoes, sour cream, herrings (Sill) and strawberries. Actually is very common to have a grill. Something that can't be missed is the drink and normally they drink shots of a strong alcoholic beverage called 'Snaps', generally they sing before drinking each shot.

This year we decided to spend the day here at home but first we went to a church where they put a pole and then we came to eat to our house. We ate salmon with fresh potatoes and hollandaise sauce. For dessert I copied a cake to Peter, 'Jordgubbstårta', which has vanilla cream, strawberry jam and fresh strawberries. Everything was really good and we had a nice time.
